About the Job
The Marketing Director is a critical leadership role that serves as both the head of the Marketing department and a member of our cross-functional Strategic Planning Team. You will lead our deeply committed and highly passionate marketing team, develop strategic initiatives in collaboration with other leaders at the company, and have a direct impact on shaping our marketing strategy! Each member of the Marketing team focuses on different aspects of the marketing and sales world – including content marketing, product marketing, brand marketing, paid acquisition, and B2B sales – so we are looking for an individual with a wide breadth of experience.
You’ll report to our VP of Operations, Hannah Baker, lead our Marketing team of 4 individual contributors, and partner closely with our General Manager and Product team (among others), to lead our marketing strategy, drive forward marketing initiatives, and fuel the growth of our products.
This is a remote role (i.e., work from anywhere in the U.S.)! For those in the SF Bay Area, the salary range is $142,000 – $163,000, depending on experience. *If you are working outside of the SF Bay Area, please see the various location-based salary ranges below.

Responsibilities and Duties
Manage our Marketing Team
You’ll set the vision for Marketing, determine high level goals and metrics, oversee execution of projects, and maintain a team culture that fosters increased accountability and high performance standards.
You’ll initially manage four individual contributor employees covering content marketing, product marketing, and B2B sales/customer success.
You’ll be responsible for strategically growing the team along with the business, and serve as the hiring manager for any new Marketing roles.
You’ll actively practice inclusive leadership. This entails: demonstrating a strong commitment to building an inclusive and equitable team culture, building trusting relationships with direct reports, and ensuring equitable opportunities for team members to learn and grow.
Lead strategic work around expanding and strengthening Magoosh’s brand
As the role and perception of standardized testing is changing and we are looking to expand into additional areas, we want our Marketing Director to lead the charge on strengthening, expanding and better communicating our evolving brand.
Serve as the business leader for Marketing
You’ll drive forward the Marketing aspects of the company-wide annual plan, and be responsible for setting and owning Marketing-driven annual strategies and Key Performance Indicators
You’ll lead the charge on strengthening, expanding and better communicating our evolving brand as the company expands into additional areas beyond test prep, owning quarterly OKRs for this work
You’ll support team members in leading and contributing to quarterly OKRs across annual strategies
You’ll be responsible for managing an approximately $1.8 million non-payroll marketing budget, including approximately $400,000 in advertising spend
Collaborate cross-functionally as a valued voice on our leadership team
You’ll serve as the marketing leadership voice on the Strategic Planning Team, working with peer leaders across functions (Product, Operations, Student Services, Content & Instruction, and DEIB) to develop annual level vision and plans
You’ll partner closely with our Product team, among other teams, in setting annual strategies and driving product and revenue growth
You’ll consult as needed on marketing strategy for new products as Magoosh expands outside of test prep in our mission to decrease barriers and increase access to education and career opportunities

You are skilled at and passionate about profitable growth, and you take a data-driven and ROI-based approach to marketing
An exceptional brand marketer and storyteller
You have experience with brand campaigns and know how to compellingly tell the story of a brand and reach its audiences effectively.
A strategic and agile business partner
You have strong attention to detail and ability to execute against timelines – you thrive in a high-paced, dynamic environment
You are comfortable making thoughtful tradeoffs between accuracy and speed
You have a firm grasp on the big picture, but you don’t lose sight of the detailed execution pieces necessary to get the job done
An effective communicator
You firmly believe that it’s not just what you say, but how and when you say it that matters. You understand the power of effective communication and can serve as a role model for how to empathetically and thoughtfully share ideas and feedback.

Extra credit if you…
Have worked on both B2B and B2C projects and understand how to sell to both consumers and businesses/partners
Have experience marketing an online consumer product
Have experience with any of the following (or equivalent) marketing tools/platforms: SEMrush, VWO, Hubspot, Google Ads, Impact Affiliate Management, Facebook/Meta Ads, Intercom, Mixpanel
Have experience with data analysis and querying (including SQL knowledge)
Have experience leading a team through change and implementing new systems, processes, and/or strategies
Required Experience and Qualifications
Experience: 5 – 6 years in Marketing( Required )
Graduation: Bachelor’s Degree( Required )
Proficient in English( Required )
